A friend of mine shared this on Facebook today. I personally wouldn't get in the Ohio River but I know lots of people who do. These needles can carry multiple diseases - many can be life threatening especially for children. Though this one was not found in the local area, they can still float downstream from multiple drop points along the river. It's sad and scary that we have to be watching for dirty needles in our rivers and lakes. Please beware and be safe this summer!

From Ken Nance on Facebook:
I'm asking everyone to share this. I found 3 of these in the Ohio River today above Huntington. Two of them were uncapped. With everyone swimming, skiing and enjoying the river please keep an eye out. The news tonight mentioned a rapid rise in hepatitis C among drug users from dirty needles.
When spending time in the water this summer, be it the beach, our river or lakes, keep this in the back of your mind and be aware.
