The Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriters Festival starts TONIGHT in downtown Henderson KY. We had Nashville songwriters, Kerry Kurt Phillips and Jason Mathews in our studio this morning. As always it was AMAZING.

We asked Jason what his 'Ah-Hah' moment was when he knew his calling was to be a songwriter. Jason explained it all became clear following an Eric Clapton concert when he was 15. Right after the show, he knew he had to learn how to play guitar and after learning just three cords, he wrote a song and never stopped.

We were so honored to have Jason sing 'Life Happened', a song he co-wrote for Tammy Cochran. Watch his heartfelt and incredible performance.

Other songs he wrote or co-wrote.
