Miranda Lambert Shares Tips for Keeping in Shape

Miranda Lambert is known for her killer (and enviable) curves. That’s why the singer revealed some of her key tips for staying in shape to –natch- Shape magazine. Lambert fans looking to get healthy and tone their bodies should take heed of the singer’s suggestions, since they are fun, functional and also make you feel like you know her a little bit better.
Her go-to song to get her blood pumping and to get her in the mood to take it to the next level when she works out? Beyonce‘s anthemic ‘Run the World (Girls).’ Lambert revealed that the fellow curvy diva motivates her, saying, “I picture her body and it makes me push harder.”
Rather than continue to experiment with fad diets –she’s cycled through Atkins and Nutrisystem- Lambert has learned to pay attention to and know her body and to develop healthier eating habits, as opposed to hopping on a new diet train. “My weight always fluctuates by 10 pounds,” the singer said. “Now I’m just focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle rather than dieting.”
Life as a touring musician presents unique challenges to maintaining that healthy lifestyle, since she is out of her element, comfort zone and routine. While Lambert is forced to nosh on fast food while on tour and traveling, since it’s convenient and fresh fruits and veggies aren’t always readily available, she tries to order the alternative to the cheeseburger, which most menus have. “I just have to remember to order it,” she joked.
Lambert also gets creative with her on-the-road workout regimen, saying, “I have to think of workouts that don’t require a gym. My favorite is running up and down the stairs at the arena, which is good cardio and great for my lower body.” Genius and effective!
While Lambert satisfies her hunger with healthy foods, there’s another ‘Hunger’ she’s trying to feed! “I just finished reading ‘The Hunger Games,’” Lambert admitted. “I loved it so much, I wrote a song that I’m hoping will be on the movie’s soundtrack. Cross your fingers for me!” Fingers and toes are crossed.
Lambert fully embraces her curves, especially her self-described “big butt.” She pointed out “they’re back in style” but she also is careful to maintain hers and to keep it firm and defying gravity. “I do a lot of squats to make sure my booty’s not dragging on the ground,” she said.
