Michael Jordan Banned From Golf Course for Wearing Cargo Shorts
At the La Gorce Country Club in Miami, Florida, the rules apply to everyone. Even the greatest basketball player of all time.
Michael Jordan, who is known for his love of golf, was playing the links at La Gorce recently when he was confronted by a club employee on the 11th hole. The problem was that Jordan was wearing cargo shorts when La Corce’s dress code asks that all players wear Bermuda shorts, which don’t have side pockets.
Jordan, who doesn’t belong to the club but was playing with a member, was asked to go to the clubhouse and change. The six-time NBA champion refused and played on.
When he was done with his round, he was banned from the course. Permanently.
“Then all of a sudden they come to me on the 11th hole and say I can’t wear cargo shorts. Wow! The round is almost over and you want me to buy shorts now? Yeah, right!!,” is how Jordan described the incident in a text message to ESPN Chicago.
He added that he had played the course before while wearing similar attire but it hadn’t been an issue.
Jordan’s rep classified the club’s decision to ban the Hall of Famer for his fashion transgression as “their loss.”
