Memories of Your Favorite Christmas Treats

The kitchen at mom's or grandmom's was the place to be at Christmastime - to make sure you got a lick of some scrapings of cookie batter or whatever sugary dessert they were whipping up!  

So, what's your favorite Christmas treat?  Fruitcake? Figgy pudding? Cheesecake? Sugar cookies?  Fudge?  Eggnog?

For me, my mom's Christmas cookies were her specialty.  Her thumbprint cookies filled with grape or strawberry jelly coated with walnuts on the outside are still my favorite next to her right-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookies!  My Italian grandma made about 6 varieties of cookies that I still can't pronounce!  Her "S" shaped cookies were similar to a sugar cookie only thicker with anise seeds inside and sugar sprinkles on the top.

When I'm baking during the Christmas holiday with my children, we start by playing some Christmas music and sing-a-long while baking their favorites - chocolate chip cookies,  hershey kiss peanut butter cookies and almond shortbreads.  Yum!  #Christmasmemories #yummyChristmastreats
