Over the weekend, several media outlets were reporting the Indianapolis Colts had informed veteran quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck he was no longer part of the team's plans moving forward. A post earlier today on his personal Instagram account appears to confirm the news.

Amazing experience as a member of the Colts community. My family & I are grateful to you Indy. Many great friends, you will be missed!

Hasselbeck exceeded expectations, going 4-1, after being called upon to take over for Andrew Luck who was lost for the season after suffering a lacerated kidney during the team's week nine win over eventual Super Bowl champs, the Denver Broncos.

However, the injury bug finally caught to Hasselbeck himself, forcing the team to turn the reins over to third-string QB, Charlie Whitehurst, before starting journeyman, Josh Freeman in the season's final game against Tennessee.

While Hasselbeck provided a veteran presence on the team, and became an instant fan favorite after signing with the franchise a couple of years ago, at 40-years-old, he's proved this season, his body can't handle the rigors of extended playing time, and the team's decision to move on, while not an easy one, is the right one.
