A man has died after being shot by a police officer in Boonville.

Boonville Police responded to a call early Friday morning at Governor Boon Square Apartment Complex of a man threatening others people at the complex.

After arriving on the scene, police located a man armed with two large knives. Police ordered the man to drop the knives but he refused.

Police then attempted to tase the suspect but it had no effect on him.

One of the officers on the scene shot the man and he was taken to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville where he later passed away.

UPDATE:

Vanderbugh County Coroner Steve Lockyear has identified the suspect killed by Boonville police as 58 year old Marshall H. Coleman.

An autopsy is scheduled for noon today. We will update with any further details as we get them.
