For most people during the holidays, it’s pretty easy to get out of control with your diet. All the homemade cookies, fudge, candy, pies, and cakes are hard to turn down!  And it’s not just the desserts either it’s the other stuff, too, like mashed potatoes, rolls and butter, and stuffing. Right?

I’m no doctor or dietitian, but like they say - eat that stuff in moderation. I know it’s hard to do! For my husband and me, we decided this past summer to make a very concerted effort to start eating more veggies in our diet and exercise more and it’s really made a big difference. We’ve been preparing our own homemade salads and side dishes with fresh broccoli, red, yellow, and orange peppers, mushrooms, banana peppers, jalapenos, our garden tomatoes, carrots, eggplant, spinach, romaine and more! We also enjoyed our own homegrown green beans from our garden, too!

But, now, it’s December! We’re eating 3 salads a week now and eat a variety of other veggies, too, including steamed broccoli, green beans, cabbage, and more. Our exercise regimen is just as important as our diets, too, which includes lots of walking and/or going to the gym. So, go ahead, and enjoy the holidays and eat that good stuff you enjoy and love so well…just in moderation and please - save me a chocolate chip cookie!  Hehehe.
