Little Big Town will team with Faith Hill for a very special performance at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards.

Hill will join the newly-crowned ACM Vocal Group of the Year to perform their current hit single, "Girl Crush," which saw an enormous sales spike following the group's performance at the ACM Awards. The song sold more than 109,500 tracks this week, marking the second straight week “Girl Crush” has set the largest one-week sales figure for a country track in 2015. It is also the third-most-downloaded song across all genres, and with sales at 630,000 overall, the song has passed the threshold to be certified gold by the RIAA.

The figures are all the more remarkable, given a controversy that could have derailed the song at country radio. The Washington Post reported in March that the song was being dropped from stations all over the country. According to that article, listeners who did not understand the song's lyrics accused Little Big Town of "promoting the gay agenda."

The group responded to the flap by recording a commercial explaining the lyrics of the song. Billboard later claimed that the controversy was "mostly fabricated" by its original source, an anonymous blogger at For the Country Record. The site responded by revealing its source as Lee France, the music director for WACO 100 FM and KAGG-FM in Texas. The site sticks by its source and the story.

The Billboard Music Awards are set to air live from Las Vegas on May at 8PM ET on ABC.
