Yesterday was hunting season in Zanesville, Ohio like they have never seen before. More than 56 exotic animals including numerous lions, tigers, bears and wolves were turned loose in the community by the owner of an exotic animal farm who later committed suicide. Sheriff's deputies shot and killed 48 of the animals after closing local schools and telling residents to stay in their homes. One 911 call was from a very nervous homeowner who reported seeing a lion near his yard. There was quite a bit of outrage over the killing of the animals, but officials say it had to be done for public safety. Animals who are tranquilized can run away and hide.

The situation was so intense, noted animal expert Jack Hanna was brought in to help. Hanna himself said while killing the animals was tragic, it had to be done to protect the community. Below is news footage that describes the animals that were turned loose, very frightening.
