Keith Urban Wins Harmony Award From the Nashville Symphony

Keith Urban has yet another award to add to his trophy room. During a special ceremony over the weekend, the country crooner was honored with the Nashville Symphony’s 2012 Harmony Award for his role in the ever-growing music scene in Music City.
Before the awards ceremony took place Saturday (Dec. 8), Urban chatted with Country Weekly about receiving the award.
“It shows the diversity of music in Nashville,” he said. “I feel that Nashville is just opening up and letting the rest of the world know that this is Music City USA. We have the expansion of the Country Music Hall of Fame going on, a wonderful symphony, all styles of music happening here. Even our genre of country music is expanding exponentially. This award represents the synergy of all the music in Nashville and all of us coming together. I’ve always wanted to give back to the community after living here for so many years. This award is very important to me. It’s very sweet.”
The award comes at a good time for the ‘You Gonna Fly’ hitmaker. This year, Urban has made it clear to the press that despite signing on with ‘American Idol,’ music is still his first priority.
In 2013, he will release a new album, which he insists will sound unlike anything he’s every done before. “We have cut a lot of songs already,” Urban reveals. “I think this album will be very diverse. I’m looking for some different sounds and styles for this one.”
He’ll also kick off a new tour next year with openers Little Big Town and Dustin Lynch. Sounds like the next several months are going to be very busy for everyone’s favorite New Zealand-born country star.
