The winner, Jon Luttrull, chose this!
Leslie - I wanted to be an archeologist. I know, I was a weird kid! I almost got hit by a bus doing my research in the middle of a gravel road. :-)
I pictured my life including someone like THIS guy!!
Jon - I can remember very vividly wanting to be a police officer in kindergarten. I also really wanted to be on the radio and was mesmerized by radio personalities, but that would come much later in life. I will never forget, when I was about 6 years old, my grandmother bought me a highway patrol costume and the first time I put it on, I was hooked. When I was a freshman in high school, there was a class about the police that immediately prompted me to become a police explorer, which led to being a police officer eventually.
In college, I wanted to switch to radio, but failed a radio/TV class and the instructor actually pulled me aside to make sure I was not planning a career in broadcasting. Well, who is laughing now. I actually called him early in my career just to let him know that I did NOT follow his advice. He told me later that ignoring him was the best thing I could have done for myself. The below video was totally me when I was a kid...no, it really was.
