Who doesn't like a little retro?! Supposedly it has the old rainbow colored Apple logo, and a bunch of other stuff. That sounds awesome, right? However, there are a couple problems with this.

The firs of which, it's a HOAX.  Apple wasn't founded until 1976, so a 1970 retro mode wouldn't even make sense. That should be reason enough not to try it, but you know there will always be someone out there who wants to test it out. If you feel the need to try it out, remember this second problem. If you choose to attempt to try retro mode, you'll permanently destroy your phone! Did I convince you not to try it yet??

When you set your date back that far, it screws up the software in your phone and crashes it for good.  It's kind of like the Y2K bug of iPhones. There's a chance they can fix it at the Apple Store, but you'll probably just have to buy a new one. Fortunately, for those who aren't technical savvy, it's apparently hard to set your phone date back that far. So why go through all of that trouble just to have a useless phone???

Hopefully this saved you from spending a lot of money on a new phone! If you're still curious on this "retro mode" and would like to know more about it, check out this article on the Consumerist
