If you've been looking forward to the return of indoor football to Evansville like I have been, then you'll be excited to know we're not too far away from being to see our new hometown team, the Indiana Firebirds, in action inside the Ford Center.

The team announced the date Thursday on Twitter.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the indoor game is slightly different than what you're used to watching on TV on Saturdays and Sundays (and Mondays and Tuesdays). For starters, the field is 70 yards long; 50 yards of playing surface with two 10 yard end zones. Plus, each team only puts eight players on the field instead of 11, and padded walls surround the field much like the wall surrounding a hockey rink.

The game is relatively fast-paced and pass intensive. If you're someone who prefers a high scoring, shoot-out style of football, I think you'll enjoy the indoor game.

Single game tickets aren't on sale yet through the teams website, however you can apply for season tickets which are start at $72 per seat for all eight home games.
