Hostess Brand Inc., maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread, announced last Friday that due to a strike of Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union on November 9, the company would be going out of business. However, today Hostess and the Union agreed to try to mediate the differences so the corporation would remain in production. Because the company hadn't reached the final step of Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, it is free to keep its doors open.

With the news of impending doom, the Twinkie, Ho-Ho and other Hostess treats flew off the shelves over the weekend which begs the question, "Could this have been a publicity stunt?" Whatever the case, several consumers jumped on the band wagon to stock pile the snacks and even some entrepreneurial geniuses sold Twinkies on eBay for a little more than the suggested retail value.
