Most of the times when you read an article (or blog!) about someone's weightloss, you usually just see the beginning, and the end.  You usually don't hear much about what happens in between, and you know what, I think that sucks.  There should be more people sharing the in between, because losing weight isn't just a straight line from start to finish.

Back a few months ago I wrote a big long blog about my weightloss journey.  I started back in January and since have had some ups and downs. Weightloss is different for everyone, but no matter who you are, if you've ever tried to lose weight then you know it's just as much a psychological, as it is physical.

Weight loss isn't easy.  I hit a wall a couple months ago, and it seemed like no matter what I did I just could not push through and lose anymore weight.  I had lost 46lbs already, and it was like that was it, my body wasn't going to do it anymore.  So I got discouraged and I slacked off.  I still was working out a lot, that didn't change, but my eating habits did, and the biggest lesson I've learned throughout this journey is you absolutely 100% CANNOT out-workout a bad diet.  It just won't happen. A healthy lifestyle starts in the kitchen.  Which let's be honest, food is delicious, so that's really the hard part! WHY CANT PIZZA BE A VEGETABLE?!

After fighting with myself for about 2 months, and letting my diet completely fall apart I ended up GAINING 9lbs.  Which is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I was wanting to do. I think I needed to hit a wall and get frustrated, and then have a bit of a reset, to kick myself back into gear.  Sometimes the lows end up being your biggest motivators. Sometimes you need to hit that point to get yourself back onto the right path. Since then I've gotten myself down 5lbs, so I'm almost back to where I was before I hit the wall.

Basically what I'm trying to say is losing weight is hard, it's a long process, and it's a total lifestyle change.   But like my fiance' and my family always like to tell me, "it's a marathon, not a race."

No matter where you are in your weight loss journey, whether you be about to your goal weight, or if you're just starting out, there are going to be ups and there are going to be downs.  Don't let the downs make you completely give up.  Recognize that sometimes your body just needs a break, it needs some time to catch up with what's going on, and that's completely normal.  It's okay to have some backslides, and put a couple pounds back on, and it's okay to hit weight loss walls, eventually if you continue doing what you're doing you'll push through, and get yourself back on track.

I posted this on Instagram today, and it sums up how I feel:

I haven't done a ‪#‎TransformationTuesday‬ in a while. I hit kind of a wall with my weight loss and could not break through, ended up slacking off for a bit, but I'm back in it. I think I just burnt myself out doing too much. I didnt slack off in the gym, but i definitely slacked off in the eating department, and you cant out-workout a bad diet. Since vacation I'm down 5lbs which puts me 4lbs away from where I was before I hit the plateau in late July. It was really discouraging at first to see I had slacked off to the point of gaining a few pounds back, But when I look at where I was this time last year, its a big push to not give up. My big goal is to lose 70lbs, I'm 29lbs away from that goal. I think I can, I think I can"
