Drivers travelling to, or from, Henderson to Evansville, and vice-versa, will likely face a slightly long commute beginning Wednesday, July 5th as construction crews begin the first phase of the "Fix for 41" project.

According to a press release from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), "contractors will restrict the southbound Ohio River Bridge between Evansville and Henderson, Kentucky for a bridge deck rehab and overlay. There will be two northbound lands and one southbound lane routed onto the northbound bridge. There will be one southbound lane open for heavy truck traffic."

This phase of the project is expected to last into the Fall.

The three-phase, $25 million "Fix for 41" project was announced over a year ago, as a partnership between INDOT and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and will focus on the three stretches of bridges between the I-69 and Highway 41 interchange, including the Twin Bridges. The entire length of the project is expected to last two and a half years.

For more information on the entire project, visit the Fix for 41 page on INDOT's website.
