I have always been very blessed. The longest I had to wait for a meal was until my family could find a restaurant that sounded good. I have never gone to bed hungry or woke up wondering if I was going to eat that day. Millions of children across the world do just that though. The numbers are staggering - according to UNICEF, approximately 6,200 children die each day from hunger and hunger related disease. In the past 15 years, the world has been producing more than enough food to feed every person on the planet 2,800 calories per day - which is more than enough to be healthy. However, the number of hungry people in the world has increased. Today, there are over 400 million hungry children.

You can help change the life of children just by donating a couple hours of your time on August 24, 2013 at the First Methodist Church in Henderson, KY. Feed My Starving Children, a faith-based organization that packages nutrition-packed meals for hungry children in poverty-stricken countries is holding a food packaging drive. They plan to package over 100,000 meals on this date. To register to be a volunteer, visit the registration page at Feed My Starving Children or contact First Methodist directly.

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship the meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.
