I adopted my dog, Dalis, back in March from the Vanderburgh Humane Society. She was abandoned in an apartment by her owners and locked inside of a storage bin. Luckily the landlord found her quickly and she was able to find a good, I mean GREAT, home with me! She is literally my child and I take her with me every single time I go out of town.

She was very timid and scared at first, and definitely not a fan of new people. It didn’t take her long to adjust and now she is the biggest mama’s girl I’ve ever seen. I’ve never had a dog with such a strange personality in my LIFE! For instance, she loves to rearrange my apartment. She never chews anything, just moves it. She enjoys lounging on my pillows in front of the sliding glass doors, and has no problem dragging those pillows from the bed in my room. She also does not like when I leave my jewelry on the table, so she will pick whatever it is up and bring it to me, as if I lost it. She’s so awesome!

One of the strangest things about her, however, is her obsession of the very first toy I ever gave her. It’s a purple raccoon with a long tail and she literally takes it everywhere! We can’t go to bed without it or she cries at the door, and she runs around the house searching when she can’t find it. I don’t understand! She has the same exact toy in pink, but hates it. It got to the point where I had to go out and buy more to keep on reserve because they get SO raggedy after a while.

She’s one of the best dogs I’ve ever had and she was a quick learner to my rules and how to behave, but not every dog is like this. If you need some help, we have your answer! Cesar Millan, the original host of the Dog Whisper show, will be in town this month and he wants to help you and your canine have a better relationship. You can get all of those details here!

But really, this toy obsession is a little ridiculous. Watch the video below to see what I mean. This toy is more important to her than a treat!
