Get Santa’s Whereabouts on Christmas Eve Online!

Santa has packed his sack full of toys and is making his annual trip around the world tonight! So, how do you keep up with Jolly Old St. Nick? With such advanced technologies, now you can track Santa throughout his entire flight using your computer or smart phone. And hey, remember he sees you when you are sleeping, knows when you're awake - don't feel bad about peeking in on his whereabouts.

Track Kris Kringle using NORAD's official Santa tracker. NORAD tracks airplanes, missiles, space launches and anything else that flies in or around the North American continent, so naturally they must track Santa's whereabouts so he isn't seen as a threat by the military and shot down.

The tradition began in 1955 after a Colorado Springs-based Sears Roebuck & Co. advertisement misprinted the telephone number for children to call Santa. Instead of reaching Santa, the phone number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief's operations "hotline." The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Children who called were given updates on his location, and a tradition was born.
