One of Evansville's biggest and most authentic festivals in our history, Volksfest, kicks off this Thursday August 2nd through Saturday August 4th at Germania Maennerchor at 11am. This year's Volksfest marks 50 years of Gemuetlichkeit, food including the famous Kraut Balls, fun and friends. Open from 11am - midnight all three days, there is no admission charge until 5pm.

There is no other authentic German festival quite like Volksfest at Germania Maennerchor. There will be a very special opening ceremony at 6pm on Thursday followed by a celebrity Bratwurst-tossing contest at 8pm. There will also be authentic live music from The Schnapps Band of Cincinnati, Evansville's own Rhein Valley Brass and The Ratskeller Band all three nights.

On Saturday, August 4th, there will be a Kiddie Carnival from 11am-2pm for the children and an adult must accompany those under 12. Each child will receive free tickets for a hot dog, chips and a soft drink plus a ticket to each carnival booth. A German costume contest will be held at 11:30am followed by the ever-popular Chicken Dance contest at 11:45am. The carnival booths open at noon and go until 1:30.

Carry-out order parking will be on Fountain Ave and you can reserve tables for your group or company for lunch each day by calling 812-422-1915...you must reserve your table the day before you want it. Don't miss the Golden Anniversary weekend of Volksfest this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Germania Maennechor on Fulton Ave at Maryland.
