George Strait’s Best Songs From Four Decades

A big happy birthday to George Strait, celebrating 59 years today!  Through 4 decades of making music, Strait has had a lot of hits.  Here are my favorite from each decade he's been giving us great country music.

1980's - Amarillo By Morning It's hard to believe this song isn't one of the 57 number ones of his career.  It is still, however one of the tunes that is most recognized as a George Strait song.

1990's - I Cross My Heart From the movie, Pure Country, this is a love song that will never die, and while there's a lot of songs that could be considered THE signature Strait song, this one could be the best of all.

2000's - Give It Away The epitome of a country song, written by Jamey Jonson and Bill Anderson.  Strait delivers is perfectly displaying the heartache of a love gone worng...and just plain gone.

2010's - The Breath You Take It's hard to believe that we're a year and a half into the 2010's and George doesn't have a number one in this decade.  Don't worry, that will change.  Just give it time.  This great, emotional song was a great way to get things going.
