Garth Brooks revealed how he came to record "More Than a Memory," a song that Lee Brice wrote, during a show on Friday (July 29) at the Century Link Center in Bossier City, La.

Brice played a 25-minute acoustic set before Brooks took the stage. Later, Brooks invited him back up toward the end of his set to sing "More Than a Memory." The song hit No. 1 at radio in August of 2007 and was also Brice's first No. 1 as a songwriter.

"I remember getting a call from a retailer during my time with my babies," Brooks told the Bossier City audience. "They wanted to know if 'we can go in the vault and do anything.' I said, 'Well, there is one song written by this new kid in Nashville.' So, Lee Brice had this song called 'More Than a Memory' that he had written. And there's a thing in Nashville — this has never happened to you, it happens to me all the time — but you'll hear the demo of the song and you realize you'll never be able to sing it that good. So I'm gonna have my stab at it and then I'm gonna let the master take over."

And with that, Brice took the stage and sang the song with Brooks. It was a moment Brice says he'll never forget.

"It was one of my favorite nights on a stage — ever," Brice said in a press release.

Obviously, Brice has gone on to see success of his own as an artist with several No. 1 songs, including "I Don't Dance," "I Drive Your Truck," "Hard to Love" and "A Woman Like You." He is currently working on his fourth album, due out next year.
