From the National Weather Service:

An arctic cold front will move through the area late Wednesday night and Thursday. A pair of disturbances will move northeast across the area beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing through the day Friday. As temperatures drop below freezing, a wintry mix of precipitation is expected across the entire region.

A winter storm watch is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday afternoon. The National Weather service in Paducah has issued a winter storm watch - which is in effect from Thursday evening through Friday afternoon.

Freezing rain and sleet will overspread the area Thursday evening and the precipitation will end as sleet and snow Friday afternoon.

Significant accumulations of ice, sleet and snow with likely reseult in treacherous driving conditions Thursday night and Friday. In addition, some isolated power outages cannot be ruled out where freezing rain is most prevalent.

A winter storm watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that would greatly impact travel. Stay tuned for later statements. This watch will be upgraded to a warning if winter storm conditions become more certain.
