I have been a country music fan since I was about 11 years old, and if I hadn't found Garth Brooks when I did, who knows where my tastes would have taken me.  Let me reveal to you 5 songs that I actually had on cassette and listened to quite often before my switch to country music!

1) MC Hammer "Have You Seen Her"

That's right, even the man with the parachute pants and 'U Can't Touch This' got sentimental from time to time.  Why this was my favorite song on the immensely popular 'Please Hammer Don't Hurt Em' album, I have no idea.

2) Escape Club "Wild Wild West"

This one hit wonder of a late 80's band sure gave us a gem with this one.  It stood the test of time pretty well, however the video did not!  I used to put a band together of neighborhood kids and lip synch this for the family.  You're welcome.

3) New Kids On The Block "Tonight"

It's one thing to admit you listened to NKOTB.  It's quite another to admit this was your favorite song, but it was.  I used to blame knowing their songs on my little sister, but now I come forward and raise my hand and say...my name is Eric Cornish, and I liked The New Kids' music...I am ashamed.

4) The Guys Next Door "Magic Night"

OK, now if New Kids On The Block wasn't bad enough to make you snicker, how about the Saturday morning show that was made to be like the New Kids, and put out music that they gave away in Pop-Tarts boxes?  Introducing the Guys Next Door and the cassette single I got from said Pop-Tarts and played non-stop.

5) Nelson "(I Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection"

I just can't...I can't say this is embarrassing, because I still listen to this song and album.  As a matter of fact, Gunnar and Matthew Nelson are still making music, even some country music, and I hope to get them to town at some point.  So, laugh all you want at the extreme HAIR in the video, but I still love Nelson...there, I said it!
