Any parent will tell you, having kids not only brings a ton of responsibilities (you're responsible for keeping another human alive after all!), but also a ton of questions. How much do they eat? Why don't they sleep all night? And how do you get them to stop crying?!?! I can tell you from experience, it can be overwhelming. Fortunately, the Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library is offering to help with a series of classes designed to help answer those questions and more.

Taking place at Central Library in downtown Evansville every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. beginning April 4th, the "Expectant Parent Series" will cover a wide variety of topics including the role of a Doula, developing early literacy skills, and a pregnancy yoga class. All classes are open to not only new and expectant parents, but those of us whose kids are older.

No registration is required, all you need to do is show up!

For more information, check out the event's page on the EVPL's Facebook page.

Pre to 3 Program

The EVPL isn't the only place in town where new and expecting parents can learn the ins and outs of raising a child. The Vanderburgh County Department of Health recently launched their "Pre to 3 Program" designed to help lower the infant mortality rate in the Tri-State which is one of the highest in the entire country.

The program covers everything new parents need to know and provides expert assistance in the areas of feeding and lactation, properly preparing your home for the arrival of a baby, financial planning, and more. The program is being offered for free and is only available to residents of Vanderburgh County.

For more information, call the Vanderburgh County Health Department at 812-435-5765 or text FAMILY to 99888 to sign up for this program.
