Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke has been re-elected to a second term in office.

Winnecke was up against Democratic State Rep. Gail Riecken and Independent candidate Steve Wozniak. Nearly 12,000 residents voted for Winnecke. He defeated his opponents with 62% of the vote. Riecken received 34% and Wozniak came in at 4%.

Both candidates had some interesting comments after the results were announced.

Winnecke told 14WFIE, “We're a city on the move but we certainly have a lot of projects that need to get finished, they are in the early stages,” Winnecke told us.

Riecken's response, "My hope is that people are strong about the issues enough to keep them in front of the mayor and say, 'Okay, Mayor, you have got to do something about this budget, you gotta get the spending under control."

Wozniak focused on the experience of campaigning. "I got to talk to a lot of people, got to hear concerns of the city residents."

Both comments were reflections of their campaign strategies. Read the comments in full HERE.
