Evansville native, Alex Weightman, is turning his passion for golf into a fundraising effort for suicide prevention, and you can help.

Alex, a Central High School alum currently living in Florida, is returning home in September to play in the 2018 Amateur Golf Tournament at Fendrich Golf Course on Diamond Avenue, and has committed to donating $5.00 for every birdie he makes during the tourney.

You can help by pledging any amount your comfortable with through the donation page Alex has set up through Pledge It.org, a sports focused crowdsourcing group that gives athletes the chance to raise money for their cause of choice by playing the sport they love. In Alex's case, that's the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and National Alliance on Mental Illness Charity.

Alex's goal is to raise $1,000. As of this writing, he just over halfway there with $604 dollars raised. If you'd like to make a donation, visit his page on Pledge It.org by September 15th.
