Though the article was published at the end of April, I'm just now seeing it. I wanted to make sure everyone else in the tri-state saw it too because Evansville is notoriously known for being the most miserable place on earth - though in reality it definitely is NOT.

NerdWallet and Forbes Magazine names Evansville as #4 on the list of best places to start a business in 2015.

Evansville, Indiana-Kentucky Average revenue of businesses: $1,844,834 Percentage of businesses with paid employees: 27.5% Number of businesses per 100 people: 8.2 Unemployment rate: 4.8%

The article goes on to say that the determination was made by the following perimeters:

To determine the friendliest geographies for launching a business right now, NerdWallet looked at 183 metropolitan areas, each with 15,000 businesses or more and populations of at least 250,000. Each area was evaluated according to average revenue of local businesses, what percentage can claim paid employees, and the number of businesses per 100 residents.

Additionally, a metro’s median annual income, housing costs, and unemployment rate were factored in as indicative of the local economic landscape.

So, if you are thinking about starting your own business in the next few months or even years, the outcome in Evansville and the surrounding area looks pretty darn good!

Forbes article references Evansville in "Best Places to Start a Business" report.
