Eric Church gave the 2018 CMA Awards a taste of his legendary live show, burning up the stage with his performance of his new single "Desperate Man."

Wearing his signature sunglasses and flanked by his stellar band (and some rocking bongos), Church had the entire crowd up and grooving to the song. Seriously, who doesn't love Eric Church hollering, "Grown ass man!" to a crowd of adoring fans — as Pistol Annies sing along from their seats, no less.

Church released "Desperate Man" a day after he announced his new album of the same name in July. Desperate Man came out on Oct. 5, 2018, and immediately topped Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.

Church spent much of the past year on the road, performing to throngs of adoring fans for well over three hours every night. It's a fact made even more impressive after he also revealed he underwent life-saving surgery in 2017 after a health scare.

His new album and song came out too late to be eligible for this year's CMA Awards, but he'll be eligible next year.
