The recalled product was distributed to customers and retailers in 25 states (CO, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, VA, VT, WI, WY). As you can see, it affects the tri-state area, as the product was distributed to Indiana and Illinois.

According to Kellogg's recall post:

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

That being said, the company has not had any illness reports yet, but as a precaution, Kellogg is asking that people who purchased affected product discard it and contact the company for a full refund.
