Are you a believer in the 'Doomsday' clock? It moved one minute closer to midnight yesterday putting it at 11:55pm. The clock has been around since 1947 and it is a fugurative timepiece that marks how close we are to the apocalypse or the end. It came about as a result of the dangers of nuclear weaponry advances and other potentially catastrophic dangers. This is the first time the clock has moved forward since 2007. The clock was reset by a group called the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

The furthest the clock ever was to midnight was in 1991 when it was set to 17 minutes before midnight as a result of the Cold War being over and the U.S. and Soviet Union cutting their arsenals.

The closest the clock ever was to midnight was in 1984 when it was set to 11:57pm, just three minutes before midnight. This occurred when the tensions between the U.S. and Soviet Union was at it's highest.

A lot of people think the clock is a bunch hooey, but some people take it very seriously. Below is a video from the press conference announcing the move forward yesterday.
