Dolly Parton brought her Pure and Simple tour to the Ford Center last night and I was there to see her for the very first time. Dolly, as you know is a living legend in this business and at 70 years young, she's still entertaining audiences as if it were 40 years ago.

Going into the show, I knew that Dolly was an entertainer. She loves to talk and tell stories. That being said, she is without a doubt the best entertainer out there in terms of audience interaction. She took the time before and after each song to tell some stories, make some jokes, and let the audience feel like the were family.

As previously mentioned, Dolly is 70 years old. Typically when an artist ages, so does their singing voice. Not Dolly! That woman hit every single note as she did when she recorded the songs. It took me seeing her to realize how talented she really is. As a vocalist, she is amazing. The power and the conviction in her voice with each song made you actually feel the song.

Not only that, but I had no idea that Dolly was multi-instrumental. She played more instruments than I can can count! Guitar, piano, piccolo (I think that's what it was), saxophone (which she can play backwards...you'd get that if you were at the show), and a few others!

Overall, it was a very entertaining show. Just when you thought she was done, she came back for more! It's obvious that after all of these years, she still has fun and loves what she does. Even if you don't know a lot of Dolly songs, you would be entertained throughout the entire show.

I am blessed to be in a career that affords me the opportunity to be able to see things like this. Even better, I was able to take my mother to see Dolly Parton for her very first time. To see the smile on her face during the show was the greatest feeling.

In conclusion, you need to see Dolly Parton live. Excellent stage presence, powerhouse vocalist, funnier than all get out, and a true living legend in music.
