What I have found to be true about pets is that they sense how you are feeling without knowing or understanding what is wrong with you. I have been very sick the last couple of months with what I call the 'dizzy virus.' At times, when I am feeling dizzy, unbalanced and nauseous, my cats (2) will come to me and help me gain my balance back with their slow, graceful movement. They will then lie down beside me and make me feel at ease and better. Dogs and cats seem to know what we need, when we need it, even if we don't ask.

I found a video of a little boy, with Down Syndrome, who was resisting the offer of friendship for a dog. It warmed my heart and reminded me of the power of pets. It's like dogs and cats are of a higher being. One that loves unconditionally, guards heroically and accepts us just as we are, no matter what we do or say.

This blog is dedicated to my dogs Tippy (my very first pet), Happy and Tasha who are now running and playing in the clouds of heaven. I know I wasn't always the best owner but you were always the best pets, truly my best friends. I love and miss you....
