Job Description
Principle Function: Interview, hire, and train the teaching staff of Methodist Temple Children’s Center, working in collaboration with the Director of Operations and Administrator.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Serve as central source and coordinator of program and & curriculum resources; organize and maintain resource center
• Monitor the availability of instructional material and teaching aids, such as books, toys, art materials and games designed to stimulate learning
• Interview, hire, train, and fire (when necessary) all teaching staff in collaboration with Director of Operations.
• Work in harmony with teachers to assure developmentally appropriate practices.
• Collect and evaluate daily lesson plans on a regular basis.
• Provide at least annually written performance evaluations for all teaching staff, in collaboration with Director of Operations.
• Assist in providing opportunities for staff to achieve levels of higher education
• Aggressively promote a professional, strong, visible, caring “constituent service” attitude among all Center staff.
• Cover classrooms when necessary
• Other duties as assigned
• Assist in helping to maintain the inventory of all center supplies necessary for center operation, other than foods ordered from vendors (classroom supplies & furnishings, diapers, formula) in collaboration with Director, Business Manager, and Administrative Assistant
• Attend Advisory Board Meetings
• Attend front desk as necessary
Assist Director of Operations:
• Cultivate positive interpersonal relationships and actively promote morale and motivation among all staff
• Arrange periodic in-service training and other professional development opportunities for teaching staff in collaboration with Director of Operations.
• Attend Methodist Temple staff meetings, at least monthly.
• Plan and conduct general staff meetings and maintain regular communication opportunities with administrative staff.
• Maintain personnel policies to include job descriptions, compensation, resignations, terminations, benefits, and grievance procedures.
Visioning, Strategic planning, and Development:
• Research latest trends and thinking within the licensed daycare field and communicate this information with Director and MTCC Board for planning and decision making.
• Participate in professional development activities such as networking, workshops and training seminars, as time and budget allow.
• Lead staff toward accreditation
Marketing and Constituent Services
• Conduct tours of the facility for potential families
• Assist in arranging for medical attention for ill or injured children, in accordance with Center policies and parental instructions
• Aggressively promote a professional, strong, visible, caring “constituent service” attitude among all Center staff
• Actively foster staff collegiality, morale, motivation, and responsiveness to concerns and interests of families served
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
A) BA/BS in Early Childhood Education, or BA/BS in Elementary Education with Kindergarten endorsement, or BA/BS in related field with CDA, and
B) 5 years experience in daycare teaching and/or administration
