Dierks Bentley’s Dog Goes Missing, Country Fans and Artists Rally to Find Him

Never, ever underestimate the power of social media.
On Sunday night (Jan. 13), country superstar Dierks Bentley‘s dog Jake went missing during a big thunderstorm. Bentley tweeted about his beloved pooch being lost, and the country community — fans, artists and even the boss at Bentley’s label — rallied around him to help spread the word and support him. They also ultimately helped locate the dog.
Bentley tweeted that Jake had jumped a fence in the rain, asking fans to please help find him. “jake has been missing for 5 hours now. jumped a fence during the thunderstorms. praying someone found him. a cold wet white dog. red collar,” he posted.
His initial tweet lead to instant replies and an outpouring of concern from fans sending their best wishes.
Jake Owen, a fellow dog owner/lover who coincidentally shares his name with Bentley’s dog, also issued a tweet to help spread the word and even posted a photo of the dog to aid the search and rescue efforts. Jimmy Wayne also jumped in to help, tweeting info and details and asking any locals in Nasvhille to keep their eyes peeled for the pup.
Bentley stopped to issued an update later in the night, writing: “still looking… we really appreciate all the support. overwhelmed by it. thank you.”
Even the head honcho of his label hit the road to try and find the pooch! “The president of my record label mike dungan and many other friends decided to drive around as well in the middle of the night,” Bentley revealed. “Means a lot.”
By early Monday morning, the weather was much sunnier, so to speak. “Omg. my wife just told me someone found jake on facebook and is bringing him to our house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,” the singer shared. Apparently, someone picked Jake up before he was hit by a car.
Sure enough, Jake was returned home, thanks to social media and a woman named Anna Belle, pictured above with the ‘Home’ hitmaker and his scared pup. Rest assured, Bentley was not afraid to express his overwhelming joy at finding his best friend, posting: “One of the happiest days of my life. grown men don’t cry…yeah right. thank you to everyone on facebook and twitter that spread the word.”
