Someone was telling me that you can legally make a left turn at a red light in Indiana. I didn't believe them, so I did a little research. It turns out that they were actually right. Now before you start taking advantage of this or thinking that I am crazy, let me clarify something.

It's only legal to make a left turn on red in one specific situation.

According to Drivinglaws.org:

In Indiana, a motorist can do a left turn after stopping at a red light only from a one-way street onto another one-way street. Of course, motorists need to follow the normal right-of-way rules and proceed with caution when making the turn.

So this mean that if you are on a road that is a one way and turning onto another one way street, you can legally make a left turn on red after making a complete stop. I don't think there are too many of those here in Southern Indiana, if there are, I can't think of them. However, if you come across an intersection like the one described above, now you know that you can make a left turn at the red light!
