Despite missing the playoffs for the second straight season (the first time that's happened since the 1997-98 seasons), Andrew Luck arguably had one of his best seasons as a pro, throwing for 31 touchdowns, while posting the highest completion percentage and second highest QB rating of his now five year career. What may make those numbers more impressive is that he did it with a bum shoulder.

Owner Jim Irsay announced on Thursday the franchise QB recently underwent surgery this week to correct the injury in his right (throwing) shoulder that's been nagging him since 2015.

Luck was a regular feature on the team's injury report throughout the season due to the injury, however as Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star noted Thursday on Twitter, Irsay's tune on his QB needing surgery was different back in October when the team traveled to London for the their game against Jacksonville.

Stephen Holder, who also follows the team for the Indianapolis Star, tweeted that while Irsay's confidence Luck will be ready in time for the start of the season is a good sign, it likely means he'll miss a good portion of the team's offseason activities.

NFL Insider, Ian Rapoport all but confirmed Holder's suspicions in a tweet posted a short time later.

If what Rapoport says holds true, that would have Luck ready to go just before the start of training camp which usually begins the final week of July.

Obviously, having Luck at 100% is a vital part of the team's plans if they hope to end their playoff drought next season.
