One You Might’ve Missed – David Kersh ‘Another You’

In the mid 90's, when so many new, young, male artists were coming out, it was hard to keep track of them.  I think that was what sealed the fate of David Kersh, a super-talented artist, that just kind of faded into the background of too many new singers.  One single that made it to number 3, but went into country music obscurity shortly after was 'Another You,' a song written by a then unknown songwriter named Brad Paisley.

Three Great Covers Of Merle Haggard Songs [VIDEOS]

The legendary Merle Haggard is set to make what could be his last stop ever in Evansville, as he comes to the Centre on Tuesday, October 29th.  So many artists from so many genres have been inspired by 'The Hag,' and many have covered his songs.  Here are three great videos featuring folks like Diamond Rio, Lee Roy Parnell, Steve Wariner, George Strait, and Jewel.

Marty Robbins Performs On The Grand Ole Opry

I posed the question on Facebook as to what artists you'd like to see featured here at WKDQGold.com, and the first comment was Marty Robbins.  While I've heard many Marty Robbins songs, he passed before I got to see him play live or on TV.  I'm glad I started searching, because I think I would have been a big fan, based on this Grand Ole Opry performance!

Album Spotlight: Willie Nelson, ‘To All the Girls’

Willie Nelson's scratchy tenor and familiar guitar are the two constants on his new album of duets called 'To All the Girls.' The project is an enormous collection of female talent -- mostly country, but some not, most well-known, but a few still relatively unheard of. There's a pleasing variety, yet none steer too far from what Nelson has released in the last half-decade.

Lost Hit – Collin Raye ‘That Was A River’ [VIDEO]

When I first started listening to country music in the early 90's there were some big stars making hits, but one guy I don't think ever got the credit for the hits he produced was Collin Raye.  There was a time when my favorite song of all time wasn't a Garth Brooks song (shocking if you know me well).  My favorite song for a long time was this lost hit!

Check Out a Remake of the Johnny Cash Classic Folsom Prison Blues By Angel Mary & the Tennessee Werewolves

Johnny Cash left us in 2003, but left a legacy of music that will inspire many generations yet to come. Cash was an artist for the ages that influenced many of today's biggest hitmakers in all music genres. Folsom Prison Blues was recorded and first hit the charts in February of 1956. The original was a slow studio version that peaked at #4 on the national charts.

Album Spotlight: Kenny Rogers, ‘You Can’t Make Old Friends’ – ToC Critic’s Pick

Kenny Rogers' new album 'You Can't Make Old Friends' is a collection of songs as diverse as this legend's career. No two of the 11 cuts could be placed neatly within the same sub-genre of country music. Intense displays of love, hope, anger and patriotism keep the listener pulled forward to hear what will come next.

Country Classic Spotlight: Merle Haggard and His Impressions of Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Buck Owens and Johnny Cash

The legendary Merle Haggard will be in concert at the Centre on Tuesday October 29th. My two favorite artists of all-time are Hank Williams and Haggard.
