When I was growing up, not only did my uncle manage a public pool but my grandpa had a boat. My entire summer time existence revolved around the water. At 3-years-old, I was jumping off the high dive and to everyone's amazement ,swimming by myself to the edge to get out and do it again!

Now, water skiing was different; I LOVED tubing, but I never quite mastered the art of standing, feet strapped, on planks of wood and skimming the top of the water at very high speeds. But this toddler acts like it's no big deal. WOW!

SO many bad things have happened over the last decade. Between movie theatre shootings, school shootings and bombings, I have a heavy heart. I want so badly to see the good in people, but it's hard to do. I find myself looking at people and judging them on the way they look. When I was 5 years old, my mom surprised me by taking me to see the movie 'Bed Knobs and Broomsticks.' I was thrilled because it was a rare treat to actually go to the movie theatre. My mom had a second surprise though, she had signed me up for dance and gymnastics classes. I was SO happy.

Immediately I began dreaming of all of the crazy flips and daring, gravity defying moves I would be doing...SOON. Well, that didn't happen! I sucked at gymnastics. I was GREAT at dancing, but I SUCKED at gymnastics. So, when I see someone who appears to have built in springs in their legs and two way hinges on their backs, I am completely impressed. If you add a ball to that? INSANE!!!

This has been a very difficult week in light of the bombs at the Boston Marathon, the explosion at the fertilizer plant in Waco, TX. and yesterday's defeat in the Senate of a bill that would have expanded background checks to purchase a gun and banned the sale of some semi-automatic weapons like military assault weapons. It is Good Friday and Leslie and I got into a spirited discussion with listeners this morning about a story out of Washington State with regard to using the word 'Easter' with eggs, candy and egg hunts. Officials in Edmonds, Wash. issued a directive that Easter egg hunts will be known only as egg hunts and the city's candy-fest needs to be more inclusive of other faiths.
