Tri-State Gives Moore Mediathon Raises $26,000 For Red Cross

A partnership between Eyewitness News, Townsquare Media, and the Evansville Courier and Press have made a big impact with the Red Cross. Wednesday from 6am-6pm, all the media outlets pooled their efforts to raise funds for victims of the Moore, OK tornado victims and with the help of Tri-State donors, we were able to raise $26,016 just in phone-in donations.

It was a soggy start to the morning, but as promised by his brother, Conner, Shon Whitsoe kept the rain from falling during the race. Today is our final day of the 2013 3rd Annual St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Radiothon. Many on our staff have traveled to St. Jude to see and experience the love, caring and magic that is St. Jude.

The hospital, located in Memphis TN is the result of Danny Thomas making a promise. As a struggling young actor, Danny prayed to the Patron Saint of Lost Causes - St. Jude. He promised that if the saint would take care of him and his family, he would build a shrine in his honor. The shrine would be a hospital for needy children, where they would be cared for regardless of race, religion or ability to pay, where no suffering child would EVER be turned away. Now, Danny's children continue to keep that promise.
