Carrie Underwood Dons All Black to Perform ‘Two Black Cadillacs’ at 2012 American Music Awards

Carrie Underwood donned an all-black ensemble to perform her new single ‘Two Black Cadillacs’ at the 2012 American Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday night (Nov . 18). As is always the case with the ‘Blown Away’ singer, not only did she look stunning and fashion forward, but she sounded just about perfect.
Underwood performed in a lacy, frilly black dress with a full skirt and black leather fingerless gloves, which she paired with smoky black eye makeup and black hoop earrings. The singer was the centerpiece of the performance, and her look was jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
Much of the night’s broadcast featured expansive, extensive and expensive production from the performers, but Underwood didn’t rely on too many visuals to spice up her performance of ‘Two Black Cadillacs,’ since she provided all the fire and spectacle it needed.
There were bright lights above the stage and images of two black Cadillacs on the screens behind her, but that was about the extent of her production. And the simplicity worked for her.
There was also a fan blowing wind through Underwood’s blonde locks, which emulated the look and feeling of driving with the window or the top down. But for the most part, it was all about her voice leading the song.
When she nailed the power note at the end of the new song, it was like the heavens opened up. Underwood showed the largely pop crowd why she is one of country music’s finest with this performance.
While Underwood didn’t take home the 2012 American Music Award for Favorite Country Female — that nod went to Taylor Swift — she did grab the accolade for Favorite Country Album.
