California Elementary School Hosts Toy Gun Exchange – Is There An Agenda Here?

One day, when I went to pick up my daughter from the babysitter, I saw two neighborhood boys outside playing with toy guns. I heard a disturbing, “Bam, I shot you and you’re dead now!” Are elementary-age children so desensitized to guns and killing that they play shoot-em-up? Of course, I’m sure even my dad played ‘Cops and Robbers’ or ‘Cowboys and Indians’ with the same toy guns way back before violence on TV or video games and the likelihood of these kids ever turning into psychopathic killers is slim but it still was disturbing to me.

One California school believes that they can detour violence by exchanging out toy guns for less violent – books. Kids that exchange toy guns will even be entered to win a new bike. With gun control being such a hot topic these days, I’m sure there are agendas galore. Incidentally, the school is across the bay from San Francisco – which is a 10/100 on the crime scale (100 being the safest).(CrimeScout.com)

What do you think about this toy gun buy back? Will this help detour violence?
