Apparently, more jobs are coming to Indiana: earlier today, Ohio Valley Resources announced that the company plans to build a new billion-dollar nitrogen fertilizer plant in Spencer County, Indiana.

According to a press release, the company will locate the new facility on approximately 150 acres just north of Rockport. This announcement comes just a few months after OVR reported that it was considering the Spencer County site along with another location in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Representatives for OVR said that multiple factors, including interstate natural gas pipelines, rail, river and highway access, were the determining factor in the company selected the Spencer County site.

"We considered numerous sites before narrowing our search down to the Spencer County and Owensboro locations," said President and CEO of Ohio Valley Resources Doug Wilson. "During the last several months, we have met with representatives of both communities and considered the potential pros and cons of our two best options. We greatly appreciate the cooperation of both communities but feel confident we have picked the best possible location for the new plant. We very much look forward to being part of the Spencer County community."

The new state of the art fertilizer plant will employee some 1,200 workers over the next three years to construct the facility. At the time of its completion in 2016, the plant will employ about 80 full-time employees.
