According to FBI crime statistics on violent crimes in Indiana, Boonville is one of the 12 most dangerous cities in Indiana. That just doesn't seem accurate. Boonville? A dangerous city? I know for a fact that isn't true.

After seeing a lot of my Facebook friends share the post from Onlyinyourstate.com, I thought that I would read why Boonville was voted the number two most dangerous city in Indiana. Here is their logic behind this madness:

"With approximately 6,000 residents, Boonville likely isn't on your radar as being a dangerous town. And while it doesn't have the second highest number of violent crimes, it does have the second highest number per capita. Like Indianapolis, Boonville also breaks down to 11 violent crimes per 1,000 people."

These cities are ranked per capita, not per number of violent crimes. That makes a little more sense. However, if you have even if you have heard of Boonville, you know that it isn't a town that you would associate crime with. I mean, you hear about more crimes taking place in Evansville than you do in Boonville.

So, have no fear, the chances of you getting mugged in Boonville are about as likely as they are of you winning the lottery. Don't let this article deter you from visiting Boonville.
