Imagine driving on the Lloyd between Evansville and Mt Vernon late at night wishing the car could just drive itself so you could shut your eyes for a few minutes. Sounds like science fiction right? Not so fast. Google has been working on a self-driving car for several years now and they might just have it perfected. The Google car has completed more than 200,000 miles of computer-led driving on American roads.

Watch below as Steve Mahan, who is legally blind, sits in the driver's seat as the car drives itself to Taco Bell for some lunch navigating it's way on California streets. This particular trip was done with the permission of the Morgan Hill Police Department and Santa Clara Valley Blind Center in San Jose, CA.

Google hopes to make this technology widely available and in recent months, California and Nevada have passed legislation that paves the way for autonomous car use on American roadways. See this incredible car below.
