Country star and ‘The Voice‘ coach Blake Shelton is teaming with NBC to organize a benefit for victims who were struck by the deadly tornado that devastated his home state of Oklahoma on Monday (May 20) — and he’s calling on some famous friends to help out.

Shelton was raised in Ada, Okla., about 75 miles south of Moore, where the deadly tornado touched down, flattening homes and schools and killing more than 20 people. He and his wife, country star Miranda Lambert, opened a live episode ‘The Voice’ on Tuesday night with an emotional performance of ‘Over You’ in tribute to those who had lost everything.

Shelton says the upcoming charity event is being pulled together in a big hurry, since the need is so great and so immediate.

“I’m hoping it will raise a lot of money,” he tells Billboard. “Obviously it will be televised and will happen really quickly.”

And while no lineup has been announced as yet, the ‘Sure Be Cool If You Did’ hitmaker pointed to his fellow ‘The Voice’ coach Usher and observed, “I can call in some really big favors.”

Stay tuned for details on this special television event as they develop.
