While spending a couple of days broadcasting from the Holiday Inn Resort in Panama City Beach, Leslie and I noticed a flag pole along the edge of the property right where the beach begins. Near the top of that pole was a yellow flag, flapping away in the breeze of the Gulf of Mexico. But what did it mean? As we found out, and as you can see in the video above, the color of that flag, or in some cases, flags, determines whether or not your feet will get the chance to touch the waves lapping against the shoreline.

Our friend, Elise Jetton, the Assistant Marketing Director at the Holiday Inn Resort told us in Panama City Beach, the county Sheriff's Department are responsible for determining what color flag will fly that day. They also have divers and patrol boats constantly patrolling the waters each day to monitor the water and decide whether or not the flags need to change.

Check out the video above to see what color means what before you make that trip to the beach.
