Jon Prell

I have been at WKDQ for 13 years and have loved every minute of it. My career started in Southern California and I arrived in Evansville in 1994. I have three children that keep me very busy and the rare opportunity to go out and not have a six foot mouse serving your table is a rare and welcome treat. I love motorcycles and classic country and even host the WKDQ Country Classics show every Saturday from 6-10am. If I can I can ever play a song for you, let me know at wkdq.com.

Jeff Gordon and Pepsi Max Pull a Test Drive Prank on Car Salesman

The folks at Pepsi came up with a great idea for a new ad that involved Jeff Gordon in disguise and taking a test drive in a new Camaro - Gordon, pretending to be a customer named Mike looking at a Camaro when he is approached by a salesman, Steve. 'Mike' tells Steve he doesn't think he could handle a car like that so, Steve offers a test drive.

Imagine an Inflatable Tent That Becomes a Solid Concrete Structure

The above title is not a joke, nor is it a futuristic piece of fiction. It's real and could put a serious dent in homeless and the need for emergency shelter. These tents can be fully constructed in just a couple of hours and could be a fraction of the price of a conventional structure, which could be used for many different things including a home.

Nothing Gets You Up and Moving Like a Good Wake Up Prank

Waking up can be a little challenging for some people, especially those of us who get up at 3:30am. Some people are very slow to wake up and others are just plain nasty when it's time to get up...you know, that one total non-morning person. I personally believe in lending a hand to those who might otherwise have a hard time getting up.

Can We Please Put Down Our Smartphones and Interact Face to Face For a Few Minutes?

Leslie and I were talking on air this morning about something that is really starting to bug me - people who have their faces constantly buried in their smartphone. The need to constantly check e-mail and Facebook is getting out of hand. It seems like one to one interaction is completely obsolete anymore.

Marriage Proposals That Didn’t Go According to Plan

I just found out yesterday that a very good friend of mine recently asked his longtime girlfriend to marry him. It seemed like a no-brainer to all of us because they have been together so long, and she was constantly dropping hints. The day finally came; it was two weeks in the planning and everything was set in their favorite restaurant.

On the morning show today, Leslie and I were talking about Downtown Evansville and all of the increased activity thanks to the Deaconess GLVC basketball tournament that started today at the Ford Center. We got on the topic of what downtown needs in the absence of something like the GLVC tournament to bring people downtown.

Here we go again. Daylight Saving Time officially begins this Sunday at 2am, as we spring forward - and with the time change, comes the annual debate for changing Indiana's time zones. This debate has been raging for so long and nothing has been accomplished. So, why are we still debating this? Simple. Because everyone has a different opinion and nobody can agree.
