Austin Webb's current single, "All Country on You," isn't your run-of-the-mill, traditional country song. It's a male take on a female concept, and it wasn't easy to pull off. But in a chat with Taste of Country Nights' Sam Alex, Webb explains how he did it.

"All Country on You" is one of the few songs that the singer didn't write himself. Turns out, his publisher heard it and sent it over, telling Webb it was the 'story of his life' ... and that he had to record it. At first, Webb thought his publisher was poking a little fun at him.

“I’ve written almost every song I’ve ever recorded, that I’ve ever played live, but my publisher sent me this song and he’s like, ‘Austin, this is all about your life. This is who you are, man. This is what’s happened to you,’" the singer recalls. "And I thought it was going to be some sweet real introspective song about love and harmony and things like that."

Not even close.

The tune is more self-depreciating than loving — it was written by talented individuals who have hits like "Before He Cheats" and "Redneck Crazy" under their belts. Webb admits that women can easily put these revenge-type songs out, but he was wondering how to make it easy to swallow coming from a man's perspective.

“'How can a man approach this without it being bad?'" he asked himself And the best way to do that is to be self deprecating and female empowering," he explains adding, “We’ve been having a great time with it. It’s been being received really well."

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 60 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
